01 INCASE

I collaborated with the Canadian Red Cross to design a toolkit for pharmacists, aimed at increasing awareness and education on opioid poisoning and naloxone distribution. We designed a seven-part toolkit including various print assets to encourage people to carry a naloxone kit. Our approach was to create a system that stands apart from what's currently available.

Our research process began by looking into previous literature, completing a field observation of pharmacies to investigate the current education of opioid poisoning, and conducting interviews with pharmacists to understand their experiences.

The logo is comprised of four iconic health crosses, speaking to health and aiding. They come together to form a hashtag, speaking to interconnectedness and accessibility. The four colours represent our four personas, which represent our aims to design effective solutions them.

Our seven component tool-kit consists of a pamphlet, discrete cards, availability signage, awareness posters, pop-up stands, support sheets, and reinforcement tokens.

The pamphlet gives information on naloxone and how to use a kit. It uses active recall to help retention of the process of administering naloxone. It also acts as a kit sleeve, where the pamphlet covers the naloxone kit. This is to make individuals feel more comfortable obtaining a naloxone kit.
